Nice Day For A Wedding (or How I Learned To Love Baltimore Again)
Well, I'm back in Boston from my annual "Bullet Dodging Training" in Baltimore. It might have been one of the most fun seven days I've had in a very long time. From seeing my family, which includes my one year old niece that did nothing but scream and cry when I was around (she gave me a perfectly good excuse why I can't change her diapers or hold her), being in the wedding between my two friends Don and Sunny (incase you were wondering, yes I have two male friends also named Don and Sonny, but they didn't get married androgynous names YEAH!), to all the comedy shows I did in town, it was nothing but fantastic.First and foremost I have to thank Don and Sonny for inviting me to in their wedding, which is the reason I went to Baltimore. They're two of the greatest friends I'll ever have, and I honestly don't know why I moved away. That's how great of people they are, they make me want to live in Baltimore again. It was a beautiful wedding, and might I say I looked pretty damn sharp in that suit. Good choice on the colors Don. Nothing feels better than a properly tailored suit. Seriously, fuck all this t-shirt and jeans bullshit! I had so much fun I nearly lost my voice. Which anyone who knows me that is an impossible feat. Well, I'm sure the whiskey chugging, two packs I smoked, and all the cackling at the top of my lungs is what caused it, let's be honest, is there proper fun that doesn't involve those things? And the cupcakes were amazing! Love you guys!I should also thank both Uncle Dave Shofer and T-Brad Hudson for booking me on their shows. Neither of them have seen any comedy that I've been doing for the past year here in Boston, and both took a chance putting me on stage, giving me extra time, and hoping I'dbring the funny. (Spoiler alert, I did.) Both are two of the best bookers and Baltimore who are running some of the best rooms I've ever done. Go to their shows damn it! (People do go to their shows, but it shows I'm a really good guy by telling other people they should go.) Drink Till We're Funny at Hightopps is one of the longest running, weekly shows in Baltimore, so people come to have fun; that's what I like best about the place. Oh yeah, and the playground outback too. Dave has been doing the comedy game a long time, and constantly puts together great, supportive, professional rooms. The advice he has given me after my sets have been both welcome and very appreciative. The Circuit in Essex, Myth & Moonshine on Tuesdays in Canton, and his new spot O'Brien's Steakhouse in Annapolis were three great places to do and see comedy. I enjoyed every second of it, I'm sure you will too (I mean, for those of you who haven't been.)And of course everyone who came out to the shows, not just my friends, I do thank my friends more than you other people, but, you know, it's still cool you strangers came too. I even want to thank Office Ambush (I wish I was making that name up) who pulled me over Tuesday after the Myth & Moonshine show because a headlight was burnt out of the car I was driving. Thanks Officer for not impounding the car... and not noticing I was drunk driving. Between the wedding and the awesomest audience members who came to the show, I think I made a few new friends. Well, friends until they spend a few hours with me and realize I'm a horrible human being. Being 400 miles away from people really makes it difficult to find out who someone really is.Lastly, thanks to my family for not only putting up with my bollocks my entire life, but pretending you're not annoyed with me when I come to visit. Seriously, my sister deserves an academy award for pretending to not be offended when I make fun of her church group people or when I say terrible terrible things to her friends. *winks, makes a phone with his hands, mouths "call me" to her friends* Seriously though, her friends are all weirdly christian and cult-like, they should and do want nothing to do with my heathen ass. I don't blame them. And even last after lastly, I want to thank all the comedians I performed with this week. Some are guys I know and enjoy seeing, some were new people that I've never seen and can't wait to tell jokes with again. In no particular order of who is the funniest, but feel free to list your own favorites in the comments below (no one is really going to do that) thanks to:James Flynn, Thezz Grimes, Mike Quindlen, Josh Kuderna, Nik Oldershaw, Missy Grynkiewicz, Anthony Davis (who I kept calling Anthony Daniels, because all people from the south have the last name Daniels) Marcy Xexelia, John Goodwyn (who honestly gave me one of the best intros ever), Bill Monaghan, Alex Sprecher, Blake Barnett,Christopher Z., Corky Kirkwood, Michelle Carnes, R.j. Jackson, Katherine Jessup, Chris DeBord, Walt Ostrowski, Anthony Davis, an Tyler Dark (who immediately recognized me when he walked in The Circuit in Essex. What a sweet kid. And funny too.) If you want to check out any of these funny Baltimore are people (I think a person or two might be from D.C., but who cares?) Just google their name. I can't be responsible for proving links to everyone's accounts. Do some internet sleuthing for yourselves! And here's a scary-ass picture of what the backyard to my childhood home looks like now... because Halloween's coming up and I still need to think of a costume. Feel free to leave suggestions in the comments. Seriously it's become terrifying. And covered in spiders. I've been seeing a lot of spiders this fall, which is unusual. Anyone else notice that? Now I'm just rambling. Bye guys! Thanks for reading blah blah blah bullshit! Thanks again to everyone I saw, met, and hung out with back at home. Especially Brett Bean, Mary, The 98 Rock Morning show crew, watching the O's and Raven's games with my two best friends Tony X and Moses. I'm done. No really.
